about

This was recorded by Joseph Lucas in November of 2008 at one of the four thousand FORT Gallery incarnations. This one was off of 23rd and Telegraph. The interior looked like an early 1900's Mennonite Dust Bowl church and a set from one of the "Saw" movies. But with art, of course. Lots of art as art galleries tend to have. Art and underground alcohol parties.

Joseph set up his patch-work cassette recording studio in the empty concrete room. The doors were left open to make sure the never ending cloud of Marijuana smoke coming from our lungs had somewhere to go. He would compress the shit out of everything, so all the outside noises ended up being just as important as whatever I was doing. A lot of his other recordings share the same ethic and I love them just as much.

This would be the point in the story where I make up something poetic about the magic in the air, but all I can think about is the sound of trucks hitting the same god damn pot hole outside The Stork Club all day. You can hear it on the recording of "Calvary of Christ." I enjoyed it.

Rest in peace, buddy.
